The business opened as True Dentistry in 2018 after experienced dentists Trish Leabourne and Tiff Logan bought David Bank’s Dental Practice in Carterton. Tiff and Trish had both worked as dentists for the New Zealand Defence Force for over 25 years when it was time for a change and to bring their expertise to the Wairarapa area.
“We looked for a dental business that would be the right fit for our values,” says Tiff. “We liked the approach and ethos of this business, and we wanted to carry that legacy on and make a difference, providing professional dental care to this community.” Tiff and Trish are expert at a wide range of dental services and passionate about educating people on how to improve their oral health and prevent both oral and other health conditions.
Improving smiles
What they love most is improving their patients’ smiles, relieving pain and solving the tricky cases.
“We love what we do and want people to know they can trust us to deliver a professional service. It’s about quality of service and doing our absolute best for each patient,” says Trish. “It’s also very important to us that our patients feel comfortable and are fully informed about what options they have for their care. We take the time to find out what they need and are honest about what we can do for them,” says Tiff. Tiff’s top tip to achieving good oral health is to give your teeth a place in your annual budget alongside other things that are important to you. “If we think about it like getting a regular Warrant of Fitness for our teeth and dental health, that is investing in prevention of issues and saving money in the long run.” There are also many dental subsidies available, and the True Dentistry team can point you in the right direction to find out about these.
Serving the community
Tiff and Trish both live in the local Wairarapa community. Serving the community and making dental care accessible to all is important to them. True Dentistry collaborates with other Wairarapa dental practices to collectively look after oral health in the area as members of the Wairarapa after-hours roster. We open on a Saturday every 6 – 8 weeks as part of this collective to ensure that emergency dental services are available.
